Up to 75% Of Tickets For Abu Dhabi’s Grand Prix Are “Spoken For”

The annual Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, to be held in November 2014, is already seeing a strong demand for tickets, according to organisers.

The Formula 1 event, running from November 20- 23 at the Yas Marina Circuit, is offering 5,000 additional seats this year – from 55,000 in 2013 to 60,000.

“The number of tickets already sold, combined with the number that have so far been reserved by companies, tour operators and agents, means that 75 per cent of all tickets are spoken for,” a statement stated.

Prices range from Dhs365 for a general admission ticket, to Dhs4,420 for a three-day special-seating package.

The Main Grandstand and West Grandstand are already almost at capacity, and seats in the Marina Grandstand are also “filling rapidly,” said Al Tareq Al Ameri, CEO of Yas Marina Circuit.

“We’ve seen stronger demand than ever before across all sales platforms and ticket types… The event’s reputation has grown,” he added.

Organisers are boosting internet sales through increased digital marketing and the introduction of new online ticketing solutions and platforms.

Customers can buy tickets through their mobile phones this year for the first time, and also through a ‘purchase tab’ on Facebook.

Corporate bookings are also stronger than in previous years, said Al Ameri. “The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend is well known as an event that offers great business and networking opportunities.

“Every year we are honoured to welcome guests from some of the biggest, most respected global companies and brands.”

The number of international spectators is expected to rise from 43 per cent last year to 46 per cent this year, the statement added.

Entertainment options include international performers, firework displays and a flypast of Etihad Airways’ new Dreamliner.

The circuit will host the last race of the season this year and, for the first time, double the points on offer to drivers.
