Dubai carrier Emirates has announced plans to launch a daily A380 service to Nice for the summer holiday season.

The superjumbo will serve the airline’s Dubai-Nice route from July 1 and increase its capacity by 44 per cent to 3,633 weekly seats.

Emirates currently flies between the two cities with a Boeing 777-300ER.

The carrier said it would be the first to fly an A380 to the city and the introduction would mark its second superjumbo service to France after Paris.

In addition to the new higher capacity service, Emirates said it would also offer helicopter transfers to Monaco and a limousine service upon arrival in the city through a deal with Monicair.

The service will be complimentary for first class passengers and available to business and economy class passengers for EUR79 and EUR109 respectively.

EK77 leaves Dubai at 8:45am and arrives in Nice at 1:40pm. Return flight EK78 will leave Nice at 3:40pm and arrive in Dubai at 12:10am the next day.

“Emirates started flying to Nice on 15th July 1994, almost 23 years ago. Since then, almost two million passengers have travelled with us on the route, with over 200,000 last year alone. We’re excited to see the city join the other 46 destinations Emirates currently serves with the A380 and look forward to being the first airline to fly this iconic aircraft to Nice,” said Thierry Antinori, Emirates’ executive vice president and chief commercial officer.

The carrier became the second to announce a new summer A380 service to France this week, after Etihad said it would begin flying the superjumbo to Paris from July 1 to October 28.
