Local daily Gulf News quoted Bahraini astronomer Waheeb Al Nasser as stating that the crescent moon marking the start of the month would be sighted on May 26 at 6:22pm in Bahrain, with fasting set to begin the next day. Nasser also told the publication that Ramadan would last for 29 days this year, ending on Saturday, June 24. Eid Al-Fitr is expected to fall on Sunday, June 25. Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset during the holy month. In Bahrain, fasting this year is expected to last for up to 15 hours and 17 minutes, added Nasser.
