Abu Dhabi sees growth in completed constructions

The number of completed buildings during the third quarter in Abu Dhabi has risen by 3.6 per cent on the same period last year.

In Q3 2016, 1066 constructions were completed, rising to 1104 in 2017. This year’s Q3 figures also improve on Q2’s 913 completed buildings – a rise of 16.7 per cent, according to the Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi.

Some 595 buildings have been established in the Abu Dhabi Regions, accounting for 54 per cent of total buildings completed across the emirate during Q3, while 491 buildings were completed in Al Ain City (44.5 per cent), and the remaining 18 constructions (1.5 per cent) were completed in Al Dhafra Region.

The SCAD figures show that 951 of the constructions were residential buildings (87 per cent), with 33 being public facilities, 49 being industrial buildings, 43 classified as residential and commercial buildings, and two identified as agricultural buildings.

The Mohamed bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi came first in terms of completed buildings, accounting for 26.7 per cent of the total, followed by Beni Yas (10.9 per cent), Al Shamkha (9.1 per cent), Khalifa City (7.4 per cent). The remaining projects were spread over other areas of the capital.

According to the data, the average cost per square metre reached Dhs2,645 for buildings in the 300-599-square-metre range in Abu Dhabi, Dhs2,118 for the same size buildings in Al Ain and Dhs1,876 in Al Dhafrah. The average building cost per square metre was found to be Dhs2,246.
