Sheikha Hessa bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan passed away on Sunday leading the Ministry of Presidential Affairs to declare three days of mourning. On Monday, Sheikh Khalifa (right) was shown receiving half brother Mohamed bin Zayed, who is Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, in a tweet by state news agency WAM. Other pictures showed Sheikh Mohamed and Abu Dhabi ruler’s representative for Al Ain Region Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan receiving mourners at Al Mushrif Palace in Abu Dhabi but Sheikh Khalifa did not appear to be present. The UAE leader and ruler of Abu Dhabi is rarely seen in public and is believed to have been last pictured in June when he exchanged Eid Al Fitr greetings with the leaders of the other emirates Read: Video: UAE President Sheikh Khalifa exchanges Eid greetings He is understood to have undergone surgery after suffering a stroke in 2014. Read: UAE Gives Assurances On President’s Health After Stroke Members of the country’s royal families attended funeral prayers for Sheikha Hessa at Al Mu’tareed Mosque in Al Ain yesterday. Sheikh Khalifa also received condolence messages from rulers across the wider Middle East. Sheikha Hessa was the daughter of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the great granddaughter of Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa – the grandfather of UAE founder Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan.
