Home UAE Abu Dhabi Video: 22 injured after 44 vehicles collide in Abu Dhabi Abu Dhabi Police said the incident was caused by fog but also a lack of care by drivers by Robert Anderson February 6, 2018 More than 20 people were injured in a 44-car pileup on Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Road on Tuesday morning during foggy conditions. Abu Dhabi Police said the crash occured at about 8:00am and was caused by low visibility but also a failure by drivers to leave sufficient distance between vehicles and a lack of consideration for road conditions. The 22 injuries were mainly minor with two slightly more severe and two considered medium. A video of the incident posted on social media showed drivers fleeing their cars in extremely foggy conditions as more vehicles, including a lorry add to the pile-up. #فيديو متداول عن #حادث_مروري بين عدة مركبات بسبب #الضباب على طريق #أبوظبي.#الإمارات #الشارقة24 pic.twitter.com/xgyFGmlGYD — الشارقة24 (@sharjah24) February 6, 2018 Director of traffic patrols at Abu Dhabi Police, brigadier Khalifa Mohammed Al Khaili, said police, ambulance and emergency rescue vehicles attended the scene. Traffic was directed to the side of the road while the rescue operation took place. Warning messages were also sent to drivers urging them to take alternative routes and reduce their speed following the incident. Khaili emphasised the need for drivers to exercise caution during foggy conditions by allowing for the double the usual stopping distance between vehicles, limiting the use of hazard lights unless they come to a complete stop on the right shoulder and avoiding unnecessary overtaking. إصابة 22 شخصاً بحادث تصادم بين 44 مركبة في أبوظبي و3 إصابات في العين بسبب الضباب pic.twitter.com/tQJbkbJmcy — شرطة أبوظبي (@ADPoliceHQ) February 6, 2018 Three people also suffered minor injuries in a separate crash involving five vehicles in Al-Hier, Al Ain. 0 Comments
