Dubai has never failed to disappoint with its spectacular display of firework shows.

The sparkling display of lights that brings the night sky alive has always been a tradition for New Year’s, so here’s a list of the best firework displays lined up for 2019.

1. Burj Khalifa

Due to popular demand, developer Emaar announced that the Burj Khalifa firework display will return to the world’s tallest tower for 2019. Previous years have seen unbelievable illuminations that made the Burj Khalifa show an internationally revered New Year’s celebration. If you are brave enough to make your way to the Dubai Mall (through the thick crowds), you will be rewarded with a simultaneous water-music dance at the Dubai Fountain. You can also get incredible views from Souk Al Bahar or Burj Plaza. However, since the Burj Khalifa stands taller than all other buildings in the emirate, it will be fairly easy to see from just about anywhere in Dubai.

2. Burj Al Arab

The seven-star hotel’s firework display has always been a classic sight to see for New Year’s in Dubai. The bright illuminations perfectly compliment the iconic hotel’s ship-sail structure, making it a unique sight to behold for going into the new year. The public beaches next to Burj Al Arab (Kite Beach or Umm Suqeim beach) are the best locations to view these fireworks from, though they – unsurprisingly – get busy so it is worth arriving early. Alternatively, you could plan to go to the Madinat Jumeirah, on the other side of the Burj Al Arab, to enjoy the display from the comfort of restaurants and lounges.

3. Global Village

Dubai destination Global Village has announced that it will have seven different firework displays to mark the start of New Year in seven different countries. Celebrations will begin at 8pm UAE time to mark the New Year in China. An hour later, another display will mark Thailand’s New Year, followed by displays at 10pm for Bangladesh, 10.30pm for India, 11pm for Pakistan. At midnight, the largest firework display will undoubtedly bring in the New Year for the UAE. At 1am, the last display will mark the New Year for Russia, making Global Village a truly unique new year celebration for you in Dubai.

4. Festival City

Dubai Festival City is also set to have a multitude of firework shows. Four incredible firework displays will occur every hour, on the hour, starting at 9pm. The Creek backdrop will be a magnificent setting for the glowing lights to reflect off, and as live entertainment is planned along Festival Bay, Festival City is the ideal place to go to for families. Some of the mall’s restaurants over-look the bay, where there will also be a special IMAGINE water and light show before the fireworks. You will need to reserve tables at restaurants if you plan to go.

5. Palm Jumeirah

The Palm Jumeirah has had a tremendous history of firework displays over the years. In 2014, it monumentally broke the Guinness world record for the largest fireworks display in the world and, although that has since been beaten, it will nevertheless be a jaw-dropping start to 2019. The Palm also offers a variety of different spots to view the glowing sky on December 31st night. The Palm Jumeirah Boardwalk is perhaps the best one, as its 11km of public access to a beautiful boardwalk along the water’s edge offers a wide view. However, if you’re deterred by the prospects of busy crowds, then most hotels along the Palm will all offer their own events and viewing spots to see the lights.
