Home UAE Dubai Dubai Fitness Challenge welcomed over 1.1 million participants this year The 30-day event held over 13,000 fitness and wellness activities and events by Zainab Mansoor November 20, 2019 More than 1.1 million people took part in the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) this year. Over 285,000 people attended the free all-month fitness villages at Dubai Festival City mall and Kite beach, while over 30,000 visited the 11 fitness hubs across residential and business districts, a statement said. The fitness movement, launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai in 2017, witnessed people of all ages and abilities participate in the 30-day event. The initiative held over 13,000 fitness and wellness activities and events, and encouraged people to complete 30 minutes of daily physical activity for 30 days. Read: Dubai Fitness Challenge activities continue across five themed villages “The Dubai Fitness Challenge has been a huge success and its message has resonated around the world,” said Mattar Al Tayer, deputy chairman of Dubai Sports Council. “Every year, Sheikh Hamdan keeps coming up with unique initiatives and events. This year, he has launched the historic Dubai Run, the first such event on the bustling Sheikh Zayed road.” On November 8, the Dubai Run event led to the closure of parts of Sheikh Zayed road, Mohammad bin Rashid boulevard and Happiness street.
