Coronavirus: Nurseries in UAE to also remain closed for four weeks

Nurseries across the UAE will remain closed for four weeks, according to the Ministry of Education, reported Gulf News.

On Sunday, March 1, the ministry confirmed that all nurseries in the UAE would be shut for two weeks to contain the spread of Covid-19 coronavirus.

However, nurseries will now be closed for even longer and the closure will extend to a similar period as that of schools and universities in the country.

Early on Wednesday morning, the ministry tweeted to say that all schools and universities across the country would remain closed for four weeks beginning from Sunday, March 8.

During this period, the ministry announced a distance learning initiative as well as the launch of a sterilisation programme for educational facilities during the vacation period.

Mothers across the UAE who are employed at ministries and federal entities and have children in nurseries, would be granted flexible working hours, it was announced earlier this week.

There were six new coronavirus cases reported in the UAE on Tuesday, taking the total number of those infected in the country up to 27.
