On Sunday, March 1, the ministry confirmed that all nurseries in the UAE would be shut for two weeks to contain the spread of Covid-19 coronavirus. However, nurseries will now be closed for even longer and the closure will extend to a similar period as that of schools and universities in the country. Early on Wednesday morning, the ministry tweeted to say that all schools and universities across the country would remain closed for four weeks beginning from Sunday, March 8. Mothers across the UAE who are employed at ministries and federal entities and have children in nurseries, would be granted flexible working hours, it was announced earlier this week.
