UAE reports 779 new Covid-19 cases, 5 deaths

Another 325 patients have recovered from the virus too

The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention announced 779 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, May 26.

The total number of confirmed cases recorded in the country is now 31,086.

The ministry also reported five deaths, taking the overall death toll up to 253.

Another 325 patients have recovered from the virus too. As a result, 15,982 people have recovered after contracting the virus.

The latest cases were detected following over 28,000 tests conducted to screen for the virus.

On May 25, the UAE confirmed that it had conducted over 2 million Covid-19 tests.

Dr. Amna Al Dahak Al Shamsi, official spokesperson for the UAE Government said that the current circumstances triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic has created “a new reality for all of us, including for members of the same family; a new reality that requires a new way of thinking to invest our time in a different way, to re-consider our old habits and customs in a way that further strengthens our bonds.”

Following a “comprehensive assessment” of the reports prepared by Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management, various health and socio-economic aspects and a thorough review of the Covid-19 situation, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and chairman of the Executive Council, has said that business activities in Dubai will gradually reopen from Wednesday, May 27, with no restrictions on movement from 6am-11pm.
