The UAE’s Ministry of Education (MOE) has taken to Twitter to deny reports that a decision has been reached for students to return to their campuses after the upcoming summer break.

“The MOE denies what’s being circulated that the next school year, starting 30 Aug, will have school students attending on campus,” it said.

“No decision has yet been taken on the matter and the nature of the learning process will be decided according to health developments and precautions.”

On Sunday, Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, confirmed that the new academic year would begin on August 30, as per the calendar already approved by the Ministerial Development Council.

However, he did not confirm whether e-learning programmes will continue to be implemented in the new academic year.

The current e-learning programmes though will continue until the end of this academic year.

The summer vacations for public and private schools in the UAE that follow MOE’s curriculum will begin on July 2.

In related news, the results of the second annual Higher Education Classification (HEC) were released on June 8 and confirmed that none of the 17 branch campuses assessed scored the minimum one-star rating, while six institutions recorded a five-star rating.
