The 1,200-bed field hospital, managed by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), provided services to over 2,300 Covid-19 patients, a statement said. Built in three weeks, the facility was one of the three field hospitals established by SEHA as a precautionary measure in preparation for a potential influx of patients. It received its first patient on April 24. Since the Covid-19 outbreak in the UAE, SEHA established 24 facilities across the nation to expand testing capabilities and build on the existing healthcare infrastructure. Over the course of the last few weeks, several facilities have been declared as Covid-19-free, including Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, Al Tawam Hospital, and hospitals in the Al Dhafra region. The Dubai Parks and Resorts facility is the second of SEHA’s three field hospitals to discharge the last patients. The field hospital established in Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Center, which spanned 31,000 square metres and treated over 1,500 patients, discharged its last patient in June 2020. Last week, the Dubai Field Hospital, set up within the Dubai World Trade Centre for Covid-19 patients, also closed its door after discharging its last patient. Managed by Dubai’s Covid-19 Command and Control Centre, the 25,000 square metre facility was opened on April 17. A total of 1,269 patients were treated in the facility.
