Home Industry Education Students in Dubai can opt for distance learning for first term – KHDA Last month, KHDA issued a list of 100-plus protocols for the re-opening of private schools across the emirate in September this year by Zainab Mansoor August 5, 2020 Parents of Dubai-based students who are wary of sending their children to schools in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic can opt for distance learning during the first term of the academic year 2020/2021. “While face-to-face learning remains the preferred education model, we understand that different parents have different views, especially in the first phases of re-opening. As a temporary measure, schools can and should provide 100 per cent distance learning provision in the new academic year to parents who request it. This is intended to help ease parents and children into an eventual return to face-to-face learning,” Dubai’s education regulator Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) said, in a recent circular sent to school principals, Khaleej Times has reported. This directive follows Abu Dhabi’s Department of Education and Knowledge in Abu Dhabi’s (ADEK) confirmation, permitting children enrolled in private schools in the capital emirate to opt for distance learning during the upcoming school term. A nationwide e-learning programme had been rolled out across all universities and schools in the UAE in March as they closed their campuses as part of the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
