Home Industry Education Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education expands support for Jordanian youth Crown Prince Foundation will oversee Young Thinkers Programme activities in Jordan for three years by David Ndichu August 9, 2020 The Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education (AGFE) has expanded its Al Ghurair Young Thinkers Programme (YTP) to Jordan. AGFE signed an MoU with the Crown Prince Foundation (CPF) to implement and promote the programme in Jordan. CPF’s will oversee YTP activities in Jordan for three years and conduct, jointly with AGFE, an assessment study on the impact of YTP on youth in Jordan. YTP is a free program launched by AGFE in the UAE in 2018 and is accessible to all Arab youth aged 15-35 years. It provides educational and soft-skills learning opportunities through a bilingual (English and Arabic) digital platform designed to enhance the education to employment journey. “This partnership with the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education is part of the CPF ‘readiness and entrepreneurship’ focus area aimed at acquainting the youth with the right skills and preparing them to join an ever-evolving labour market, leveraging various platforms to help them identify and maximize their strengths,” said Dr. Tamam Mango, executive director of the CPF. Dr. Mango further explained that “CPF programs and initiatives are designed to achieve the CPF vision – ‘capable youth for an ambitious Jordan’ – through local, Arab, and international partnerships. Last month, AGFE announced that 86 underprivileged youth from the Arab region will benefit from full scholarships to pursue their master’s degrees at Arizona State University (ASU), as part of the Al Ghurair Open Learning Scholars Program (OLSP). The students were selected from a group of 353 applications, representing 13 nationalities from the Arab region including Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria and Yemen. The organisation also revealed an initiative through the University Consortium for Quality Online Learning (UCQOL) to make accredited online programmes accessible to a wider pool of students in the UAE and beyond and building their capacities in the field of online learning.
