Home Transport Aviation Oman Air Targets Subcontinent Growth The expansion comes after the Sultanate signed MoUs with India and Pakistan to boost air services last November by Dominic Ellis February 3, 2013 Oman Air is adding two Boeing 737-800s to its fleet as it gears up for a period of subcontinental expansion. Both wet-leased aircraft will be deployed by early February, growing its fleet to 30, and will serve double daily services from Muscat to Chennai, Delhi and Hyderabad. The expansion comes after the Sultanate signed MoUs with India and Pakistan to boost air services last November. Muscat-Lahore and Muscat-Islamabad are also being increased to daily services. Boeing 737s currently form the backbone of Oman Air’s fleet and fly on a range of short and medium-haul routes. In addition to the two new aircraft, the fleet includes 15 B737-800s, two B737-700s, four Airbus A330-200s, three A330-300s, four Embraer E175 regional jests and two ATR 42s. Speaking to Business Traveller Middle East in the January-February issue, Wayne Pearce, Oman Air’s CEO, said: “Adding frequencies tends to be our strategy going forward because as you get frequency, it becomes a more consistent product and better proposition for the business traveller.” 0 Comments
