Dubai Police issued 221 violations for not wearing a mask and 3,283 warnings in four shopping malls following inspections carried out by police officers and volunteers. The inspections were carried out over Friday, September 11, and Saturday, September 12, at Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Mirdif and Dubai Festival City. At the Mall of the Emirates, 17 fines were issued for failure to wear a mask, 1,091 warnings were issued and 7 violations were recorded for lack of adequate physical distancing. pic.twitter.com/7seLr9eQ7P — Dubai Media Office (@DXBMediaOffice) September 12, 2020 Meanwhile at the City Centre Mirdif, 28 fines were issued for not wearing a mask, 208 warnings were issued and eight violations were reported for gathering of people without maintaining distance between them. The police added that at Dubai Festival City mall, it issued 694 warnings, 49 fines for not wearing masks and 5 violations for people assembling without physical distancing. Read: Dubai closes restaurant, fines gym for not adhering to Covid guidelines The police have reiterated that fines and penalties specified in the Attorney General’s Resolution No. (38) of 2020 and the amendments outlined in Resolution No. (54) of 2020 will be applied to all violators. The UAE government reported on Saturday, September 12, that it had detected 1,007 Covid-19 cases over the preceding 24 hours – the highest number of daily cases within the country since the pandemic began.
