The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) said that all workers in private educational institutions in the emirate must undergo a mandatory Covid-19 PCR test every 14 days at their own expense.

An exception will be made for those employees who have received both the doses of the vaccine.

Also, employees who provide a medical report exempting them from taking the vaccine due to an illness or a health condition need not pay for their own tests.

In these instances, their employer should cover the costs of the nasal swab test every 14 days, reported news agency WAM.

If any of these employees need to visit the headquarters of the SPEA, they too must present a valid examination result for a nasal swab, not older than three days, before entering the premises. Here too, those who have received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine are exempt from this directive.

In the circular sent by the SPEA to all private educational institutions in the emirate it added that all educational institutions must update the Tamam platform with the numbers of its employees who have been vaccinated and the results of the those who have been tested.

The monitoring teams will request the result of the negative examination of the nasal PCR tests for workers present in educational institutions, or a certificate of vaccination for those who have received the vaccine.

In a similar move earlier this month, the UAE government too announced that employees of all ministries and federal entities are required to undertake a mandatory Covid-19 PCR test every 14 days starting January 17, 2021 – at their own expense, with exception for those who have been vaccinated or who have a medical condition that exempts them from taking the vaccine.
