Covid-19: Dubai approves use of AstraZeneca vaccine

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has added AstraZeneca to its list of Covid-19 vaccines available at its medical facilities. The first shipment of the vaccine has been received from India.

This marks the fourth vaccine approved for use in the country. The UAE officially registered the Russian vaccine Sputnik, Sinopharm and Pfizer BioNTech vaccine for use.

DHA also confirmed that it would begin administering the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine to residents and citizens aged 60 and above, starting January 31.

The authority is working on rescheduling the first dose of the Covid-19 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

The UAE reported a total of 3,310 infections, 3,791 recoveries and 7 deaths on February 2. The case count across the country now stands at 309,649.
