Dubai International Boat show postponed to March 2022

The five-day Dubai International Boat Show has been rescheduled for the third time. The organiser, Dubai World Trade Centre, has confirmed that it is now slated to take place from March 8-12, 2022.

“The deferment is made in consideration of the evolving regulations and logistics on the movement of yachts internationally, and our continued commitment to provide the maximum diversity and choice of global brands to our regional customers,” the organisers said in a statement on their website.

It was originally scheduled to take place from March 10-14, 2020, but was then rescheduled to November 24-28, 2020, and then further delayed to March 9-13, 2021.

The decision to reschedule has found support from some of the show’s biggest participants who were consulted regarding the decision.“Diversity of choices for visitors and safety are always the key considerations for Gulf Craft so we fully support the decision to postpone the Dubai International Boat Show. While we were looking forward to taking part in this leading industry event, we respect and value the focus of the authorities in ensuring the wellbeing of all participants, visitors and staff,” said Abeer Alshaali, acting CEO at UAE firm Gulf Craft.

Michael Breman, sales director at Lürssen Yachts, added: “We are delighted that the organisers of Dubai Boat Show consulted us on the global leisure yachting developments. It is certainly the best decision for yacht builders globally for the event to take place at a more opportune time.”

The show was scheduled to be held at the Dubai Harbour marina with several watercrafts, including leisure crafts, sailing and fishing boats as well as aquatic gadgets and toys, including aqua bikes, personal submarines and electric surf boards on display.

The Dubai Harbour marina can accommodate yachts up to 160 metres in length – supporting a superyacht industry which is estimated to reach a value of $28-30bn by 2022.

Several other high-profile events have either been cancelled or rescheduled. The 2020 edition of the Middle East & North Africa Business Aviation Association (MEBAA), for example, was after being rescheduled to 2021, was subsequently cancelled altogether and will now be held in December 2022.
