Air Arabia to resume seasonal flights between Sharjah and Batumi in Georgia

Low-cost carrier Air Arabia has announced the resumption of seasonal direct flights between Sharjah and Batumi starting June 29, 2021.

The twice-weekly flights will be operated every Tuesday and Friday.

It will depart from Sharjah at 9am and arrive in Batumi at 12.25pm local time. The return flight will depart from the port city and popular Black Sea resort destination in Georgia at 1.25pm and arrive in the UAE at 4.45pm.

Booking for the flights between the two cities have opened on the airline’s website. Air Arabia offers free Covid-19 insurance coverage. The insurance is automatically included as part of the booking and no additional documents are required from passengers.

Earlier this month, the airline confirmed that it would resume direct flights between Sharjah and Prague starting September 22, 2021. It said that it would also introduce a new service to Sharm El Sheikh with direct flights from Sharjah starting on June 29, 2021.

In 2019, Air Arabia placed a $14bn order for 120 Airbus A320 family aircraft. The agreement includes 73 of the flagship A320neo, with a mix of the larger A321neo and long-distance A321XLR variants making up the remainder.

The CEO of the airline, Adel Ali, recently said that the markets will likely go back to 2019 levels by 2024.

Air Arabia reported a net profit of Dhs34m for the three months ending March 31, 2021, a 52 per cent decrease over the corresponding 2020 figure of Dhs71m.

With more than 1.3 million passengers flying with the airline between January and March 2021, it posted a turnover of Dhs572m, a 37 per cent decrease compared to Q1 2020.
