Passengers from India must quarantine for 12 days on arrival in Abu Dhabi

UAE residents as well as other arrivals from India must quarantine for 12 days once they land in Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways has said.

Besides fully vaccinated residents – who carry proof of having received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine within the UAE no less than 14 days before travel – medical personnel, education sector workers or students studying in the UAE, those travelling for humanitarian or medical purposes as well as federal government agency workers are permitted to enter the country.

“When you arrive in Abu Dhabi, you will be required to quarantine for 12 days and wear a medically approved wristband for the duration of your quarantine – this will be provided by the authorities at Abu Dhabi airport after you clear immigration,” the carrier said in revised protocols on its website.

“You must also take a PCR test on arrival, day six and day eleven,” it added.

Residents who wish to travel from India must have an ICA approval (including submission of vaccination certificate where required) and a negative PCR test, taken a maximum of 48 hours before the first flight departure time at an approved lab in the origin city, which contain a QR code for verification.

Travellers must also undergo a rapid PCR test taken within four hours of boarding at the airport, which must be taken at an airport facility. Any test taken outside of an airport facility will not be accepted. A PCR test on arrival in the UAE is also mandatory.

Earlier this month, local authorities permitted UAE nationals and other select categories from India, Pakistan and select other locations to return to the country contingent on certain conditions.

Entry for medical personnel working in the country was granted, including doctors, nurses, technicians as well as for those working in the education sector in the country who teach in universities, colleges, schools and institutes. Vaccinated and non-vaccinated individuals within both categories will be granted entry.
