Home UAE Abu Dhabi Abu Dhabi ends National Sterilisation Programme The emirate had previously reintroduced its sterilisation programme on July 9 by Varun Godinho August 19, 2021 Abu Dhabi has confirmed that its National Sterilisation Programme and resulting restrictions on movements at night will end as of Thursday, August 19, 2021. The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee said in a statement posted by the Abu Dhabi Media Office that the programme had “achieved its objectives”. The emirate reintroduced its National Sterilisation Programme last month. It started on Monday, July 19, and was carried out daily between midnight and 5am. During these hours, the movement of traffic and the public was restricted and there were no transportation services available. During these hours, the public were instructed to stay at home unless it was absolutely necessary to go out or to get essential supplies, such as food and medicines. The committee on Thursday advised all community members to continue to adhere to precautionary measures to protect public health and safety. Earlier this month, Abu Dhabi increased the operating capacity of shopping malls, entertainment centres, cultural centres, museums, and movie theatres in the emirate to 80 per cent. The capacity at wedding halls has been raised to 60 per cent, with a maximum of 100 people in the hall. public transportation was increased to 75 per cent. However, the committee maintained the cap on the operating capacities in health clubs, sports academies, gyms, and spas at 50 per cent.
