Home GCC UAE Ajman Free Zone registers 1,792 new companies in 2021 Ajman Free Zone marked a 90 per cent rise in the occupancy rate of its rental units, which extend over 867,000 sq m by Gulf Business February 22, 2022 Ajman Free Zone (AFZ) has announced the results of its operational performance for 2021. The free zone registered a 4 per cent year on year growth, registering 1,792 new companies. Engineer Ali AlSuwaidi, director general of Ajman Free Zone, stated: “The surge in the number of new companies registered with AFZ across several vital sectors reflects the growing confidence in the competitive advantages offered by the free zone as a business incubator and the efficiency of its value-added solutions.” Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, chairman of the board of Ajman Free Zones Authority, said: “Commitment to the development of its [AFZ’s] services and operations, achievement of strategic objectives to support business partners, establishment of integrated business environment pillars recognising the wide scope of facilities and incentives, development of infrastructure, and the quality and efficiency of electronic services are few of the reasons behind the success of AFZ.” In 2021, AFZ marked a 90 per cent rise in the occupancy rate of its rental units, which extend over 867,000 sq.m, reflecting the momentum of business and investment activities. The free zone’s business facilities include 530 warehouses, more than 7,000 offices, and four business complexes. Ajman Free Zone marked yet another milestone in 2021, following the successful completion of 100 per cent automation and digitisation of its services. During this period, AFZ provided more than 240,000 e-transactions through its ‘Customer Portal’, a smart platform that offers an array of digital services. Additionally, it strengthened its position as a leading contributor to export and re-export activities in Ajman. The free zone contributed 22 per cent of total export activities and 24 per cent of total re-export activities in the emirate during 2021.
