Federer announced on September 15 that he would call it a day after playing at the fifth edition of the Laver Cup, which will be held at The O2 in London from September 23-25. The 20-time Grand Slam champion has played 1,500 matches over a 24-year career in the sport. The tennis player has been struggling with injuries for the last three years, deciding it was finally time to step away from the game, as he was aware of his “body’s capacities and limits”.
