The discoveries were in the unconventional Al-Juba and Al-Jawf layers, located under the gas-producing Al-Khuf and Al-Onaiza reservoirs in Bahrain. nogaholding announces discovery of two new natural gas reservoirshttps://t.co/xGwGD4IwcU pic.twitter.com/kMVO8iCJX9 — Bahrain News Agency (@bna_en) November 8, 2022 The latest discoveries and positive results have provided the needed valuable information to go ahead with making more evaluation of wells to benefit from all potentials of the promising natural gas resource, said Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, chairman of nogaholding. “This information available to us paves the way for the future development and production of the natural gas resource in the interest of the kingdom of Bahrain,” he said. Tatweer Petroleum Company has implemented all drilling operations and related activities, Bahrain News Agency reported. Additional drilling operations are scheduled to be conducted during 2023 and 2024, in which two layers – Al-Taweel and Al-Sara – will be tested, located below the Al-Jawf gas reservoir, in addition to the horizontal drilling experience in the Al-Juba well to improve productivity. The UAE and Saudi Arabia also made considerable gas discoveries this year. In February, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) announced that it had discovered natural gas reserves offshore of Abu Dhabi. This was followed by a second natural gas discovery in the first exploration well in Abu Dhabi’s Offshore Block 2 Exploration Concession, announced in July. The fields were Shadoon, in the central region; Shehab and Shurfa, in the Empty Quarter, in the southeastern region; Umm Khansar, near the northern border with Iraq; and Samna, in the eastern region.
