UAE: MOHRE issues October 1 deadline warning for unemployment insurance scheme

The UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has called on private sector workers employed in the country to register for the Involuntary Loss of Employment (ILOE) scheme before the last day of the deadline.

MoHRE has issued a reminder of the impending deadline of October 1 after which non-subscribers to the scheme will be levied with a late fee or penalty.

What happens after the deadline?

A fine of Dhs400 will apply on eligible employees who don’t sign up for the mandatory unemployment insurance scheme before the October 1 deadline.

We call on all eligible citizens and residents working in the private sector and federal government to subscribe to the Unemployment Insurance Scheme before 1st October to avoid a Dhs400 fine.

What is the ILOE scheme and their benefits?

The unemployment insurance scheme offers a financial safety net for those facing a job loss for up to three months.

— Category A: Basic salary Dhs16,000 or below

Cost: Dhs5 + VAT per month

Compensation Benefit: 60 per cent of basic salary; up to Dhs10,000 per month

— Category B: Basic salary above Dhs16,000

Cost: Dhs10 + VAT per month

Compensation benefit: 60 per cent of basic salary; up to Dhs20,000 per month

1. Insurance pool’s website can be accessed at www.iloe.ae and its smart mobile application available for both Android and Apple users
2. Bank ATMs and kiosk machines
3. Business service centres
4. Money exchange company outlets such as Al Ansari and Lulu Exchange
5. Using Botim
6. Via SMS
