The latest addition to the Atlantis Hotel group, owned by Dubai’s sovereign wealth fund, ranked 44th in the list which includes properties from 35 locations across six continents. Atlantis Royal opened just eight months ago and has had consistent demand. Timothy Kelly, managing director of Atlantis Dubai said in a recent interview, the new hotel’s occupancy rate has been “near 80 per cent” while the average daily rate is $1,200, he added. Image credit: Supplied Atlantis The Royal is an ultra-luxury property of 795 rooms, suites and penthouses. It houses Michelin-starred restaurants as well curated experiences for its guests. On making it to the list, Kelly, said, “Being recognised on the inaugural list of The World’s 50 Best Hotels, just eight months after opening in Dubai, is a remarkable achievement that fills us with immense pride and gratitude. This accolade reflects the dedication and passion of all our colleagues in providing exceptional experiences to our guests from day one. We are truly grateful to Kerzner International for their unwavering support and are more motivated than ever to continue raising the bar and setting new standards of excellence in hospitality.” The top spot in the coveted list was awarded to Passalacqua in Moltrasio, Lake Como, Italy. The waterfront property is a new entrant to Italy’s hospitality scene as it opened its doors to visitors just a year ago. London alone had four hotels on the list: Claridge’s (No.16), The Connaught (No.22), NoMad London (No.46) and The Savoy (No.47). Meanwhile, luxury hotel properties across Asia took 18 spots on the inaugural edition of the list. The No.2 spot was won by Rosewood Hong Kong, a 413-key property. The World’s 50 Best Hotels is a list curated by The World’s 50 Best Hotels Academy, that brings together more than 580 independent leaders, each selected for their expert opinion of the international hotel scene. The World’s 50 Best Hotels event programme, including the awards ceremony and unveiling of the list was held on September 19.
