Several major international airlines have canceled flights to Tel Aviv, Israel due to ongoing security concerns in the region.

The cancellations come as the Israel-Palestine crisis erupted over the weekend, prompting multiple carriers to suspend their services to the city.

Israel hit by flight cancellations

German carrier Lufthansa stated that due to the current security situation in Tel Aviv, it had canceled all but one flight back to Frankfurt for the day, with all other flights to and from Tel Aviv on hold for the time being. It issued an additional statement that flights for October 9 stand cancelled as well.

Air France, along with its low-cost carrier Transavia, also suspended flights to Tel Aviv until further notice.

Additionally, Air India canceled two flights – one originating from New Delhi to Tel Aviv and the other from Tel Aviv to New Delhi.

Etihad Airways announced the cancellation of flights EY593 and EY594 between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv on October 8 and 9 due to ongoing issues in Israel, reported a leading national daily. The airline assured passengers that it is assisting them with alternative travel arrangements and is closely monitoring the situation in Israel.

Meanwhile, Flydubai scrapped multiple flights on October 7. However, the airline reported that flights to Ben Gurion Airport are currently operating on schedule, with plans to adjust schedules as the situation develops, added the publication.

Although flights to Tel Aviv’s main international airport faced cancellations from several major carriers, authorities did not halt commercial air links with Eilat, Israel’s second international airport located on the Red Sea.

The ongoing security situation in Israel and Gaza has raised concerns among airlines, impacting travel plans for many passengers.
