Rotana Opens Bahrain Hotel

Design-led hotel targets business and leisure guests as more five-star supply beckons

Rotana Hotels has opened ART Rotana Amwaj Islands Bahrain, its second property in the Kingdom.

The 311-room property, five minutes’ drive from Bahrain International Airport and 15 minutes from the city centre, targets business and leisure travellers alike with its eight meeting rooms, seven F&B outlets and fully equipped beach club. Classic rooms are priced online from BHD90 a night.

General manager Joe Batshoun hailed its “unique” waterfront location and claimed its designs and interiors – an illuminated arch stretches over the entrance and a dancing fountain blends music and lights – will “transform” Bahrain’s hotel industry. A permanent collection of exclusive paintings, entitled ‘A Moment in Time’, reflecting the growth of Bahrain and the Middle East adorns the walls of the lobby.

“ART Rotana combines an all-inspiring ambience with ample facilities to appeal to an array of guests of different ages, backgrounds and needs,” he said.

Rotana is planning to open another five-star hotel in Bahrain shortly, Banader Rotana, and more supply is coming with the imminent opening of the Four Seasons Bahrain Bay.

Operators are keen to merge the business and leisure boundaries and encourage executives to tag on breaks before or after work, although many business travellers still prefer checking into dedicated business hotels – of which there are plenty in Bahrain, as elsewhere in the Gulf.

Rotana also operates the 128-suite Majestic Arjaan by Rotana in Busaiteen District.
