UAE minister of Justice Sultan bin Saeed Al Badi will chair the committee, which will confirm the start of the month of Shawwal, marking Eid Al Fitr. The committee will meet on Monday evening after Maghreb prayer at the Judiciary Department in Abu Dhabi. All the Sharia courts across the country have been asked to look out for the crescent moon and inform the committee. An announcement is expected around 9pm, according to reports. The start of Shawwal marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, during which Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. According to a local astronomer, Tuesday, July 5, is expected to be the final day of Ramadan this year, with the first day of Eid Al Fitr falling on Wednesday, July 6.
