Improved Water Service For UAQ

Committee approves Dhs755 million infrastructure projects in the UAE’s East Coast and UAQ.

Two new projects which will develop the water and electricity infrastructure in Umm al-Qaiwan, costing Dhs755 million, have been approved.

The projects, which will help develop the east coast, were given the go ahead by UAE President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, according to official news agency WAM.

The first project aims to develop the water network in the east coast with a total implementation cost of Dhs591 million.

The second project of transferring water to the emirate of Umm al-Qaiwain, aims to lay a 61 km long pipeline with a capacity to carry 20 million gallons a day from the main network of the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority.

The new pipeline will cost Dhs164 million and is expected to be finished in 18 months.
