Dubai Fitness Challenge is an initiative launched by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council since 2017. In it’s sixth edition now, DFC encourages residents and visitors to adopt a more healthier and active lifestyle by committing to exercise 30 minutes of activity, daily for 30 days. So what is in store at this year’s Fitness challenge. In addition to this, the iconic Dubai Run and Dubai Ride that transforms Sheikh Zayed Road into a pavement for cyclists and runners will also be return this year. The Expo City Dubai is also opening its doors for a weekend of sports and fitness extravaganza. The Expo City Dubai Run takes place on November 12, with 3km, 5km, 10km and 15km routes. While the Expo City Dubai Ride takes place on November 13 with a 3km parade lap through iconic features of Expo City Dubai, following which riders have the option to take part in 12km, 18km, 40km and 74km around the flat roads of Dubai South. The Al Wasl Plaza presents a host of work out sessions on both Saturday and Sunday from Les Mills, Barry’s Bootcamp, The Platform, Pure Bhangra and even a Zumba Party. Taking place on the November 13, this year’s edition of the Dubai Women’s Run is expecting 6,000 women from all walks of life to partake in Bluewaters Island. Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum invited all UAE residents to participate in the 30×30 challenge. “I look forward to having the whole community unite to turn Dubai into the world’s most active and dynamic city,” he wrote in a tweet. DFC encourages Dubai residents to take up 30 minutes of activity a day for 30 days and transforms the entire city into a fitness hub. Last year’s Dubai Fitness Challenge drew 1.65 million participants, an increase of 10 per cent over the 2020 session.
