In order to ensure compliance with traffic fines, Abu Dhabi police under the guidance of the UAE’s Ministry of Interior (MoI), has initiated a series of measures for motorists to help them pay fines as well as get negative points removed from their driving licences. A new initiative by Abu Dhabi Police, allows motorists, who have committed traffic offences, to avail of discounts on their fines. Abu Dhabi initiative for traffic fines The Abu Dhabi Police said motorists can avail of a 35 per cent discount through a traffic fine payment plan. Under the “Initiate and Benefit” initiative, motorists can avail upto a 35 per cent discount on their traffic fine if it is paid within the first 60 days from the date of committing the violation, with the exception of serious violations. Paying traffic fines If you are wondering the easiest to way pay your traffic fine, then you have multiple options. Abu Dhabi government’s digital channel “Tamm” can be used to make the traffic fine payment Additionally, a direct payment can be made through the police’s customer service and happiness platforms Various banks such as bu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), Mashreq Al Islami and Emirates Islamic Bank have an option on their mobile applications to pay traffic fines through their platform. Motorists need to use a credit card issued by one of these banks to pay through their platform. Motorists can also contact the bank to avail of the installment plan to pay traffic violations. However, this has to be done with the bank directly, within a period not exceeding two weeks from the date of being issued the fine. The service aims to ensure that fines are paid without becoming a financial burden for motorists. Black points reduction In addition to the monetary fines, if you have accrued negative traffic points or ‘black points’ on your driving licence, the UAE government has launched an initiative to help you remove them. The MoI has launched a new initiative to increase road safety awareness through its ‘Accident-Free Day’ campaign along with helping motorists be aware of driving safely. The ‘Accident-Free Campaign’ will help those who drive safely on the first day of the new academic year (August 28) get rid of four black points off their record. To claim the deduction, you first need to head to the website and sign the pledge for the initiative.
