The directive, which is effective from May 30, 2021, and is applicable to all employees and outsourced workers, has been approved by the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee. The committee also approved compulsory periodic testing for all employees to enter the workplace, the cost of which is to be borne by the individual. Those with vaccination exemption certificates are exempted from bearing the cost. Unvaccinated employees must test weekly, while those vaccinated must test monthly. Those vaccinated who have active icons (gold star or letter E) on Alhosn app are exempt from these tests. Earlier this month, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) announced that all exceptions granted to UAE federal government employees, including the permission to work from home due to emergency conditions of Covid-19 pandemic, have been cancelled as of Sunday, May 16.
