The discount is valid for all traffic violations with the police also cancelling vehicle impoundment and black points for three months, a statement said. The Abu Dhabi Police also launched the early payment of traffic fines initiative, under which motorists will be offered a 35 per cent discount if they make the fine payment within 60 days of the violation. The discount will also apply to fees charged on impounded vehicles and late fine payments (if any). Under the scheme, motorists will also get a 25 per cent discount on the fine if they pay in the same year of committing the traffic violations. However, the discount will not apply to impounded vehicles and late fines. If the fine is paid a year after the traffic violation was committed, the motorist will not receive any discount. The initiative will take effect for offences committed after December 22. Abu Dhabi Police also clarified that the above terms apply to all traffic violations, except those mentioned in the table of “serious violations”. Also, the reduction does not include what is decided or taken by the traffic courts or their deputies, the statement added. Major General Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, commander-in-chief of Abu Dhabi Police, called on all motorists to take advantage of the initiatives and speed up the payment of their fines and settle their legal status. He also urged them to adhere to the systems and laws.
