A senior official from Abu Dhabi’s tourism department has confirmed plans to lift all quarantine measure for international travellers arriving in the emirate starting July 1.

“Abu Dhabi will be open for everyone with no quarantine protocol starting from July 1,” Ali Al Shaiba, executive director of tourism and marketing at the Department of Culture and Tourism, told The National on the sidelines of Arabian Travel Market in Dubai.

“We are going to welcome everybody to Abu Dhabi with a different [travelling] protocol but no quarantine.”

The media report indicated the quarantine restrictions are expected to be lifted for passengers from all countries, except India, by July 1.

There are 23 destinations currently on the emirate’s green list including Japan, Portugal, Russia, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

Passengers arriving from the green list destinations are exempt from mandatory quarantine measures after landing in Abu Dhabi and will only be required to undergo PCR testing upon arrival at Abu Dhabi Airport.

Earlier this month, Abu Dhabi also revised the rules regarding mandatory Covid-19 testing and home quarantine requirements for vaccinated arrivals who are either UAE citizens or residents of the emirate.

Effective Monday, May 3, vaccinated UAE citizens and residents arriving from ‘green list’ countries must take a PCR test on arrival and on day six, without having to quarantine.

Vaccinated residents and citizens arriving from countries which are not on the green list must take a PCR test on arrival and quarantine for five days. They must take another PCR test on day four of their arrival to the UAE.

Non-vaccinated citizens and residents of Abu Dhabi meanwhile arriving from the green list countries must take a PCR test on arrival. They do not need to quarantine, but must take two other PCR tests on days six and 12.
