The university said it is conducting a case-by-case evaluation to assist students who are finding it difficulties to finance their tuition fees. “As it is vital to recognise all the challenges that are arising along the crisis including financial instability, the institution announces to provide financial aid to the students that are hugely affected by the emergence of Covid-19,” said vice chancellor of Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, Professor Silvia Serrano. “We assure our students that the university will conduct a comprehensive assessment on their cases and that the university is ready for exceptional assistance.” Also read: How is Covid-19 changing the UAE’s educational landscape? Several education institutions in the UAE, including schools, have announced discounts on tuition fees to assist their students’ families. The UAE’s Ministry of Education made the announcement to have an early spring break on March 8, closing schools for four weeks as part of precautionary measures against the Covid-19 virus. A distance learning programme began on March 22, with over 1.2 million school and university students across the country joining their virtual classrooms. On March 30, it was announced that the distance learning programme would be extended until the end of the current academic year. The extension of e-learning prompted parents to seek relief related to school fees, with several schools across the country announcing fee waivers of around 20 per cent for the third term.
