Abu Dhabi: Unvaccinated visitors now allowed to enter cultural sites, events

However, they would require a negative PCR test not older than 48 hours to do so

Starting Thursday, March 17, 2022, the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee has updated its entry requirement to now allow non-vaccinated visitors to enter events, tourist attractions and cultural sites in the emirate.

However, these unvaccinated individuals would require a a negative PCR test not older than 48 hours.

The updated guidelines are part of reduced precautionary measures in line with the ongoing recovery phase of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to a statement by the Abu Dhabi Media Office.

Beginning from Monday, February 28, 2022, the green pass on the Alhosn app was no longer a requirement to enter Abu Dhabi from within the UAE. Also, EDE scanners were removed from entry points to the emirate too.

Also, vaccinated travellers do not need to conduct a pre-departure PCR test when heading to the UAE, provided that they have a Covid-19 vaccination certificate with a QR code on it. Unvaccinated travellers bound for the UAE must show a negative PCR test conducted within 48 hours of departure, or a recovery certificate with a QR code that confirms they have recovered from the virus within a month of the date of travel.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Dr. Taher Al Ameri, official spokesperson of the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA), noted that the number of Covid-19 cases and deaths in the UAE have witnessed a significant decline, due to the joint efforts between relevant authorities in containing the pandemic, according to news agency WAM.

As of March 16, the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) reported that the nationwide case count has risen to 886,301. Also on Wednesday, MoHAP announced that the total number of vaccine doses administered stands at 24,368,088 with a vaccine distribution rate of 246.38 doses per 100 people.
