Abu Dhabi-based carrier Etihad Airways has said that it will start operations to Guangzhou from next month.
Subject to regulatory approvals, the twice-weekly passenger service to Guangzhou will start on October 10, initially using a two-class Boeing 777. Guangzhou will be added to the airline’s existing services to China, which includes flights to Shanghai – which resumed in July 2020 and to Beijing – which resumed in June 2022.

Martin Drew, Etihad’s senior vice president global sales and cargo, said: “As well as being a modern and rapidly growing city itself, Guangzhou has excellent connections with the Greater Bay Area. Our twice-weekly service will further address the huge demand for passenger travel between the UAE and China, as well as provide new cargo capacity, building on the formidable people and business ties between the two markets.”
With the addition of the new services, Etihad will offer four weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and China: two weekly services to Guangzhou and two to Beijing and Shanghai.
Customers can book their tickets on the carrier’s website or mobile app, via its call centre or through local or online travel agencies.
The carrier also announced plans to increase flights to New York this winter, and intends to add four weekly flights on the Abu Dhabi – New York route November 15 onwards, providing 11 weekly nonstop services to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).
