Abu Dhabi’s Etihad to launch new seasonal routes to Alexandria, Salalah

Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways will launch new seasonal routes to Alexandria in Egypt, and Salalah in Oman during July and August, it announced on Thursday.

Flights to both the cities will operate four times per week during the two summer months, to cater to “strong demand” during the period, a statement said.

Flight EY 660 will depart from Abu Dhabi at 2.15pm and land in Alexandria at 4pm, with return flight EY661 departing from the Egyptian city at 4.50pm and arriving in the UAE capital at 10.40pm.

Meanwhile flight EY 390 will depart from Abu Dhabi at 8.05am, landing in Salalah at 10am, with the return flight EY391 departing from the Omani city at 10.50am and landing in the UAE capital at 12.40pm.

Both the routes will be operated by an Airbus A320 between July 2 and August 31, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Alexandria, the second-largest city in Egypt, is a popular spot for tourists in the summer months because of its beaches. Salalah is also particularly popular during the same period due to its unique Khareef, or green season.

With the addition of these seasonal destinations, the airline will operate a total of 32 flights per week to Egypt, 28 flights to Cairo and four to Alexandria.

The airline will also operate a total of 25 flights per week to Oman with 21 weekly flights to Muscat and four to Salalah.
