Home Transport Aviation Abu Dhabi’s Etihad warns passengers to arrive early during peak travel period Abu Dhabi International will experience one of its busiest periods at the end of the year by Staff Writer December 13, 2018 Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways has warned passengers to arrive at least three hours before departure during the coming busy travel period beginning this weekend. The carrier said due to significant demand at Abu Dhabi International Airport related to the schools holidays, check-in for some mornings flights would be relocated to Terminal 1. Flights affected: EY083 to Rome (FCO) STD 0845 EY077 to Amsterdam (AMS) STD 0920 EY535 to Beirut (BEY) STD 0930 EY297 to Baku (GYD) STD 1010 EY653 to Cairo (CAI) STD 09:35 EY647 to Cairo (CAI) STD 1050 The changes will occur on Friday, December 14, Sunday December 16, Friday, December 21, Sunday, December 23, Sunday, December 30, Wednesday, January 2 and Friday, January 4. Check-in for all non-US flights will open three hours before departure and close one hour before departure. Passengers travelling to the US must check in two hours before departure and present themselves at the US Customs and Border Protection facility no later than 90 minutes before departure Boarding for all Etihad Airways flights closes 20 minutes prior to departure for guests in all classes. Additional check-in options included ticket printing machines for those that have checked in online but have been unable to print their ticket. Early check-in is also available at the Abu Dhabi City Terminal for Dhs30 per guest and a family check-in area is available at Terminal 3 between 6:00am and 9:00am for those travelling with young children between December 14 and January 4. The carrier reminds passengers that its carry-on baggage policy is 7kg for economy class and 12kg for first and business class. Staff will be checking bags meet size and weight requirement at check-in and prior to boarding. Dubai’s Emirates issued a similar warning to passengers earlier this week.
