Owner National Investment Company said the existing mall would also undergo a Dhs300m upgrade. The new extension will stretch across 120,000 square metres and has been designed by Singapore firm DP Architects. It will comprise two parts to the north and south of the existing mall with space for new luxury brands, a food court and additional parking. “Due to the high retail demand in the market and Marina Mall’s strong positioning in Abu Dhabi, we feel that this is a good time to expand our offering to our long existing loyal customers and cater to new customers as well,” said Jihad Dirani, the head of leasing at Marina Mall Abu Dhabi. The extension is planned to be completed in 2019 after the proposed opening dates of the capital’s two new malls – Al Maryah Central and Reem Mall.
