Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad) announced that it has completed the first phase of its logistics park with the majority of units ready for handover to tenants.

The industrial zone said that around 83 per cent of the logistics park has been pre-leased to a number of local and international firms.

Some of the clients moving into Kizad’s new facility include logistics firm Agility and media house United Printing and Publishing, whose portfolio includes local dailies The National and Al Ittihad, Financial Times UK, and National Geographic.

Kizad Logistics Park will be built in three phases with the first phase measuring around 46,453 square metres with warehouse units ranging from 1,133 to 12,463 square metres.

The overall facility will have a total area of 118,965 square metres and aims to be a major logistics and warehousing hub in the region.

“Today, the global logistics industry is estimated to be worth approximately $300 billion, so it’s not surprising that logistics and supply chain management is increasingly becoming a hot topic of interest in the UAE,” said Khaled Salmeen, CEO, Kizad.

“Executed and managed properly, it could lead to reduced operational costs, improved delivery performance and increased customer satisfaction levels, and this is precisely what we are offering in Kizad.

“We have seen a number of logistics and supply chain investors coming into Kizad to take land to build their own facilities and now we are seeing the same interest in our pre-built facilities to take advantage of our exceptional location at the heart of the UAE, the proximity to Khalifa Port, our quality products and our highly competitive rates,” he said.

Earlier this year, Abu Dhabi-based National Food Products Company (NFPC) that produces brands such as Oasis, Blu and Lacnor, signed a 50-year agreement with Kizad.

The agreement will see an initial investment of Dhs1.5 billion by NFPC to build a mega-facility in Kizad.

The Abu Dhabi-based zone also inked a deal with supermarket chain Spinneys last month by which the latter has agreed to open a cold storage facility in the industrial cluster.
