Abu Dhabi’s Millennium opens Madinah airport hotel

Abu Dhabi’s Millennium Hotels and Resorts has announced the opening of a new hotel in the Saudi holy city of Madinah.

The 227-room Millennium Madinah Airport is located next to Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz Airport and designed to cater to pilgrims and tourists.

It includes four meeting spaces able to host 75 guests, an all-day dining restaurant, executive lounge, casual restaurant and an outdoor terrace café.

“We are confident that Millennium Madinah Airport will cater to all types of travellers especially now that new tourism attractions are being developed in line with the Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to increase the number of pilgrims and Umrah visitors,” said general manager Murad Al-Sabbah.

“With our five-star hospitality standards, we ensure comfort and ease for our guests, whether they are here on vacation, performing their religious journeys, visiting relatives or traveling for business.”

International hotel operators are rapidly expanding in the kingdom amid a wider goal to attract 30 million visitors annually by 2030.

An estimated 64,000 rooms are in various stages of development across Saudi Arabia, market research firm STR said in February, with new supply impacting occupancies and rates over the last two years.

The kingdom already receives a substantial number of pilgrims each year in Makkah and Madinah, with the five-day Hajj attracting 2.35 million last September.

Millennium currently operates 32 hotels in the Middle East and Africa and has a further 14 due to open within the next year.
