Home UAE Abu Dhabi Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit to feature a drive-in cinema The movies will be showcased every Thursday, Friday and Saturday starting July 9 by Varun Godinho July 1, 2020 In partnership with Reel Cinemas and Brag Events, Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit is set to begin showcasing movies at its first drive-in cinema next week. Starting July 9, the Yas Drive In Cinema will stage a movie thrice a week, every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, at 8pm. Tickets for the cinema experience will go on sale on Thursday, July 2. Yas Marina has unveiled the schedule for next week. On July 9, Mad Max: Fury Road will be shown, while on Friday Joker will be beamed on the big screen followed by Crazy Rich Asians on Saturday. Only 65 cars will be permitted to enter the cinema to ensure that the venue complies with the government’s directives regarding social distancing. Also, a maximum of two people are permitted to attend the screening in each car. Visitors will remain seated in their car and can hear the audio of the movie through the car’s FM frequency. A statement on Yas Marina’s website added that snacks can be ordered and delivered to the car itself during the movie. It added that the venue will open at 7pm, an hour ahead of the screening, with entry permitted from the East Gate. Guests will be required to wear face masks if their windows are lowered, if they are exiting their vehicles, or speaking to any staff. PPE will be available on-site too. Reel Cinemas opened another drive-in cinema at The Dubai Mall at the end of May, and at the Dubai Hills Estate more recently. Sharjah developer Arada too said earlier this week that it would open a 150-capacity drive-in cinema, Movie Nights at Aljada, from July 1 that would include free entry on a first-come, first-served basis.
