Air Arabia Launches Flights To Chittagong, Bangladesh From Ras Al Khaimah

UAE-based low-cost carrier Air Arabia has announced plans to launch three flights per week to Chittagong, Bangladesh from its new hub in Ras Al Khaimah.

The flights to Bangladesh’s second biggest city are set to start from September 2, 2014.

It will become the low cost carrier’s 98th destination worldwide and second in Bangladesh. The airline currently runs 14 flights to Dhaka, the Bangladeshi capital every week.

Air Arabia’s flights to Chittagong will depart from Ras Al Khaimah Airport on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with return flights operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Sharjah-based Air Arabia opened its second hub in the UAE and fourth worldwide at Ras Al Khaimah International Airport following a long term strategic partnership with Ras Al Khaimah Department of Civil Aviation in the first half of 2014.

The first flight took off on May 6 and the carrier now offers direct services to eight cities from the hub, including Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, Cairo in Egypt, Muscat in Oman, Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar in Pakistan, and Dhaka and Chittagong in Bangladesh.

The airline is also looking to expand into India, and is currently awaiting approvals to fly to the country from Ras Al Khaimah.
