Air Arabia launches new direct flight between Sharjah and Osh in Kyrgyzstan

The twice weekly service will commence from February 20, 2022

Sharjah-based carrier Air Arabia has announced the introduction of a new route to Osh, in Kyrgyzstan from the emirate starting February 20, 2022.

Every Friday and Sunday, G9 886 will depart from Sharjah at 9.45pm and arrive in Osh at 3.15am the following day.

On Mondays and Saturdays, G9887 will depart from Osh at 4.25am and arrive in Sharjah at 6.25am.

The flights will be operated by an Airbus A320, with the new service representing the second city that Air Arabia flies to after Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan.

Osh is the second largest and oldest city is Kyrgyzstan and represents a major economic and cultural center of the country.

The airline has already opened bookings for the new route, and its free Covid-19 insurance coverage is automatically included with every ticket.

Air Arabia is the Middle East and North Africa’s first and largest low-cost carrier (LCC) operator. It posted Q3 2021 net profits of Dhs209m, a 575 per cent year-on-year increase.

Its turnover for the third quarter of 2021 increased by 174 per cent to Dhs804m, compared to Dhs294m in the corresponding quarter the previous year.

The airline also registering a net profit of Dhs253m for the first nine months ending September 30, 2021, a 219 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2020.

Its turnover for the first nine months of 2021 exceeded Dhs1.8bn, a 42 per cent increase year-on-year. Meanwhile the airline added that over the first nine monts of 2021, it served over 4.2 million passengers from all its five hubs, an increase of 34 per cent compared to the same period of 2020. The average seat load factor for that period stood at an impressive 80 per cent. During the first nine months 2021, Air Arabia added 43 new routes to its global network from its hubs in the UAE, Morocco, and Egypt. In December, it launched a new service between Cairo and Khartoum.
