Air Arabia resumes daily flights to Doha

Low-cost carrier Air Arabia will resume daily direct flights between Sharjah and Qatari capital Doha starting January 18, 2021, it announced on Thursday.

The announcement comes after the UAE restored ties with Qatar earlier this month.

Effective January 18, flight G9134 will depart from Sharjah at 4.10pm and arrive in Doha at 4.10pm (local time). The return flight G9135 will depart on the Qatari capital at 5.10pm and land in Sharjah at 7.10pm.

The route will be operated with an Airbus A320 aircraft.

Flights can be booked on Air Arabia’s website, by calling the call centre or through travel agencies.

The UAE reopened all land, sea and air ports with Qatar for inbound and outbound movement starting Saturday, January 9, following the signing of the Al-Ula Declaration in Saudi Arabia during the GCC Summit.

The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) also announced the reopening of airspace and resuming of air traffic between the UAE and Qatar as of January 9th.

The GCAA said at the time that it will resume scheduled and unscheduled flights between the two countries, in coordination with the civil aviation authorities and national carriers in the UAE.

The UAE, along with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt suspended trade, travel and diplomatic ties with Qatar on June 5, 2017, accusing Doha of supporting terrorism.

However, during the GCC Summit in Saudi, the states were able to find a “resolution to all areas of difference,” and agreed to a “restoration of all diplomatic ties,” Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan said.

“It will be a strong and important foundation to the future of the region and its stability.”
