Those planning to visit Downtown Dubai for the fireworks display and laser and light show will have to first register on the U By Emaar app. Restaurant reservations for venues on the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, Souk Al Bahar, Dubai Opera, The Dubai Mall Promenade must also be made through the app. Upon completion of the registration process, users will receive a QR code that will allow them access to Downtown Dubai. Along with visitors, all Emaar Boulevard residents and hotel guests are also required to register on the U By Emaar app, a statement said. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard has been set up as the viewing area for the event and it will adhere to strict social distancing rules and government guidelines. Measures in place include thermal cameras, social distancing, contactless payment, and deep cleaning and disinfection, Emaar said. The viewing area will also be operating at limited capacity with 12 being the largest number of people allowed per group booking. Dubai has recently revealed guidelines to be followed regarding social gatherings for New Year’s Eve and has warned that violators will face strict fines. The event will be live from 8.30 pm GST (+4 GMT) onwards on December 31, 2020.
