Praveen Nair, sales manager, Alpha Data and Michael Langeveld, Emirates and Africa Technology and Business Development Lead, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) speak to Gulf Business on the sidelines of the recently concluded GITEX GLOBAL 2023. Q: Could you share how artificial intelligence has impacted digital transformation for enterprises in the UAE? ML: Thanks for having this conversation. When I ponder the question, three elements come to mind. Firstly, enhanced data analytics, enabling better insights based on collected data. Then, predictive analytics, giving us the power to foresee failures, and lastly, the notion of ‘edge-to-cloud’. HPE’s technology aids in delivering these solutions across various systems. Q: Why do you suggest a zero trust network security approach? ML: Zero trust is pivotal for safeguarding information. HPE focuses on securing the entire value chain, from creation to disposal. By collaborating with partners like Alpha Data, we tackle threats from within the network, a major challenge for businesses. Q: What trends are emerging in enterprise demand within the digital economy? ML: Recent events have highlighted three key trends: robotics, quantum computing, and generative AI. These, together with HPE’s capabilities, are set to address prevalent economic challenges. Q: Why has GreenLake been named HPE’s breakthrough cloud platform? PN: HP GreenLake provides a unique hybrid cloud environment allowing flexible ‘pay as you go’ models. This setup allows customers to scale their resources as required, saving substantial CapEx. Moreover, it’s a managed service model ensuring hardware support and stringent security measures. Q: Could you discuss Alpha Data’s specialisation in enterprise mobility? PN: Enterprise mobility, although a relatively new term, has been prevalent for the past decade. Alpha Data‘s platforms, in collaboration with partners like VMware, Citrix, and Nutanix, facilitate secure data access, aligning well with HPE GreenLake. This integration saves costs for businesses and focuses on critical projects. These are among some of the insights shared in conversation with Gulf Business magazine.
